Dr. Hanson Nortey

Dr Nii Nortey Hanson-Nortey is Physician and Public Health Expert with local and
international experience managing health programmes and projects. His major
interests are in TB and HIV programme management, private sector engagement
for health, health systems strengthening, public health policy, and leadership and
management in the health sector.

Dr Hanson-Nortey’s near 20 years of practice spans clinical care in HIV and TB
clinical care in Ghana’s premier Tertiary Hospital, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital; TB
and HIV national programme delivery and management; Country Director of
Aurum Institute Ghana, an international public health organisation; and as an
independent consultant providing technical support and consulting for donor
funded projects and national programmes across Africa.

He has been involved in several national level public health and managerial
activities such as HIV/ART capacity building, roll out of TB/HIV collaborative
activities, MoH national technical working groups, CMS Fire Disaster Recovery
Team, National Programme management, organisational management, and
development. He is the Vice Chairman of Ghana’s Country Coordinating
Mechanism (CCM) of Global Fund; Council Member of Ghana Coalition of NGOs in
Health (GCNH) and Executive Member of Private Health Sector Alliance of Ghana
(PHSAG).

He has also been involved in international level activities including Council Member
of International Society for infectious Diseases (ISID); Co-Chairman of
International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases (IUATLD) Working
Group on TB Infection Control; and Core Team Member of End TB Transmission
Initiative (ETTI) of Stop TB Partnership.

Dr Hanson-Nortey is a Member of Ghana College of Physicians and holds a Master
of Public Health from the university of Ghana. He has experienced in projects and
programme management and implementation.
